BMW R2 1931 – 1936
Setelah sukses dengan proyek BMW R2 tahun-tahun berikutnya, BMW melanjutkan pengembangan motor seperti R4. BMW R4 mirip dengan R 2, tapi R4 memiliki kapasitas mesin yang lebih besar yaitu 398 cc silinder dengan mesin katup tunggal dan mampu mengeluarkan tenaga 12bhp pada 3500rpm. R4 sukses besar BMW bisa menjual sebanyak 15.400 unit yang diproduksi antara 1932 dan 1938.
